  • The Rick Snuffer Story

Born and raised in southern West Virginia, Rick Snuffer has a heart for its people, its values, and its way of life. Rick has lived and worked throughout many counties in West Virginia's 3rd Congressional District. Rick attended Beckley College, where he met and married the love of his life, Lori. He and Lori have three sons: David, Christopher, and Nathan. Rick is a graduate of Bluefield State College and is currently completing his Master’s Degree in Adult & Continuing Education at Marshall University.

At age 11, Rick began working with his dad and grandfather in the construction industry during summers and holidays. Rick worked long and hard as a laborer, carpenter, electrician, and all the other rungs of the ladder until he had worked his way up to become Vice-President of the company. "I started at the bottom and learned every phase of the business on the way as I worked harder and gained more responsibility." In 2003, Rick launched his own business to better balance his obligations to family.

Rick was elected to serve the people of West Virginia as a legislator in 2010 and has worked with his colleagues on both sides of the aisle to help middle income families and promote economic growth. Rick successfully fought for a more responsible state budget; pushing for increased accountability, transparency, and a smaller state government.

In addition to running his own construction company- Rick Snuffer Construction, LLC - Rick teaches Adult Technical Education. He teaches High School Juniors and Seniors during the day and then Rick teaches evening and night classes in adult electrical technology, helping students learn to become electricians and obtain their West Virginia Apprentice and Journeyman Electrical Licenses.

As a teenager, Rick volunteered at the VA Hospital and nursing home. He continues to serve our disabled veterans, most recently involving himself in a program which helps remodel bathrooms and provide handicap access throughout their homes at no cost to these veterans.

Rick has also served as a volunteer at the YMCA as a basketball coach and swim instructor.

Additionally, he has volunteered with Habitat for Humanity, serving as Construction Manager and Vice President of the Board of Directors for a local chapter.

Finally, Rick mentors young men through the steps of starting their own businesses. He is an ordained minister and has served in almost every capacity of the local church and has ministered to those of many different denominations.

Rick Snuffer's life of hard work and service are a powerful combination which will enable him to work for and serve you as your Congressman who will represent your southern West Virginia interests and values in Washington.
